Why I started this Medium blog
One unintended consequence of being a teacher is that you tend to become accustomed to speaking at length. If left unchecked, this can lead to annoy people in social situations.
I remember one instance at a family gathering where I went on a rant about a random topic in front of a father and his child.
As my rant reached its peak, the child quietly muttered to the dad, "Uncle talks a lot," and they both exchanged exasperated glances. Even though it was a whisper, I overheard it and it tapered of my rant.
Although it was painful at the moment, I eventually came to understand that I tend to talk too much. After conducting a thorough analysis, I concluded that this urge to communicate needed to be directed towards something constructive. It was important that only those who were interested be involved, without subjecting anyone to my verbal overflow.
This insight prompted me to launch my own YouTube channel and set up a profile on Medium. Within this private realm, I can openly share my thoughts without burdening others.
In doing so, I hope to spare numerous individuals from enduring verbal overwhelm and bulldozing hapless kids.
And that includes my son who suffers the worst ☺️
