Why we’re destined to be miserable

When you observe this image, your attention tends to skip the intricate carving and instead, it immediately focuses on the area where a tile is absent.

This tendency is a significant factor in our general discontent, as we often fixate on what is lacking. Our inability to appreciate the positive aspects of our lives diminishes their significance when we view them through the lens of what is missing.

Instead of expressing gratitude for the things going well, we often approach God with requests for more, resembling spoiled individuals making demands rather than acknowledging what we already have.

Perhaps this is why Buddha asserted that all life is characterized by suffering, primarily driven by the awareness of what is absent or deficient.

It is essential to make a conscious effort daily to be thankful and resist the urge to incessantly desire more. To cultivate contentment.

And to surrender to the will of God — Hukum ( Divine Order ) as Guru Nanak teaches

..he who puts himself under His command attains all; there is nothing left to be attained. To obey His command is the gateway to His heart…
