Simplify your Existence
Perfect Days (2023). Directed by Wim Wenders. Written by Wenders and Takuma Takasaki. Stars Kōji Yakusho
It’s a visual and spiritual treat to watch Perfect Days.
Lessons I picked up :
(a) Instead of incessantly feeding the consumer-driven hedonistic treadmill called Pleasure-Seeking, embrace subtraction.
Like Symmetry — Minimalism soothes human mind.
More is not merrier — more is crazier.
Small is beautiful as Schumacher said about half a century ago.
Cut the excess in every part of life — physical as well as mental.
(b) Cultivating a deep connection with trees can be more fulfilling than fostering relationships with people🌳
( c) Despite a budget as substantial as 700 million dollars, a city like Bombay struggles to provide clean toilets for their residents. So cleanliness is a function of Culture rather than Finance.
As an Indian, I perceive the responsibility for maintaining cleanliness in public spaces as belonging to someone else, not mine.🧹
(d) Tip janitors — in malls, airports, hotels, offices, hospitals, cinemas , etc
(e) Personal and professional lives maybe completely different.
While viewing the film, the tour of Tokyo serves as an added bonus.
