When you have nothing to write about

An exercise that I practiced for about a month — when I resigned from corporate to pursue a full time writing career — was this :

Take a pen and paper.

Open a random dictionary page.

And craft a 500-word piece about the first word encountered.

That stupid idea of being a full time writer died like a lizard crossing a highway — but I can write 500 words on any word that you throw at me.

I am a dog chasing a frisbee, man.

I will defy gravity to catch that word and bring a 500 word document when I hit the ground.

So next time you complain that you have nothing to write about — grab a dictionary.

Like I wrote this article when I stumbled upon the below quote on Insta -

Fyodor Dostoevsky - The Brothers Karamazov: “But how could you live and have no story to tell?"

I blame my laziness for my writing lapses — never inspiration!

🌸 Thanks for reading. Hope you found it useful.
