Lowering the Baseline
De-addicting yourself in 3 steps
For a significant portion of my life, I’ve had a strong craving for biscuits. This might seem harmless, but when you multiply 365 days by 40 years by 6 biscuits, the result is quite eye-opening.
I estimate, I’ve consumed around 100,000 biscuits in my lifetime.
If you multiply that by 200 calories per biscuit, you’re really sinking in the numbers.
Now that I’m in middle age and can’t take my health for granted, I’ve been working hard to break this addiction.
I’ve found this three step strategy helpful.
@ The first is to quit abruptly.
@ The second is to gradually *Reduce the Baseline*.
I replaced the biscuits initially with energy bars and then transitioned to dates.
@ The third step is to repeat this process multiple times.
Now I am addicted to dates 😉.
The algorithm is as follows:
1. Quit abruptly
2. Gradually reduce the intake by substituting with healthier options
3. Repeat the process.
Hope this helps in whatever you are trying to quit🌸
