Whenever I need a writing nudge , I follow “quotes” hashtags on Instagram.
All type of hashtags are available… writing / success / love / finance / health / productivity / technology / entrepreneurship / philosophy / relationships /… you get the drift.
Whatever topic you want to write on or whatever you consider yourself to be an expert in — follow a hashtag and keep scrolling down in your feed. Invariably there would be something that will resonate with you.
With the quote as a skeleton — I flesh the article from something in my life experience — to build a running piece. I save the good quotes for future. The Muse might be lying drunk somewhere but I have a lake of creativity for taking a dip into.
We were taught in school to start an essay with a quote. We used to write the essay first and then run to the library in search of the Quote Book. This time — it’s the other way around.
